How fishing works

Choose an available pet and optional fishing supplies.
Cast into a ripple, then hook the catch when the lure dips.
Your fishing level, rod, and hook timing affect whether the fish gets away. A catch earns 4 XP; a miss uses one cast and earns 1 practice XP when you collect.
New catches unlock as your fishing level rises. Check the catch journal for each item’s required level.
Hold to reel and release when the line gets tense. Gentle mode uses one tap.
Reveal your catches, then collect them for your inventory.
While a spot is on cooldown, use fishing bait to shorten the wait.

Gentle mode and Skip fishing use an assisted hook rate, with your level and rod still counting. Quicker manual hooks earn a better chance. Line tension does not take away an already hooked catch.
